Station 153
Updated On: Aug 12, 2007 (11:35:00)

Station Information:

Station 153 is home to an Engine, a Brush Truck, several reserve pieces, and the antique fire truck (under renovation). The typical station assignment for Engine 153 is 1 officer, 1 driver and 1 firefighter/paramedic.

Station 153 protects Founders Village, Castle Oaks, and two elementary schools. The station's first-due response area competes with the Meadows as the fastest growing area in the district.

Patch History:

Station 153 is currently located on Sovereign Street. Sovereign, by definition, means "SUPREME EXCELLENCE". This is why the firefighter is sitting on a king's throne. The firefighter wears three-quarter bunker coat, three-quarter boots, and a traditional helmet to represent our fire service past. The throne consists of two brass nozzles - on which his arms rest - a hook and a halligan bar. In his right hand, the firefighter holds a piece of fire service history; something called a "WARDEN'S STAFF". In the early 1900's the firefighter on the scene of a fire that was holding this staff was considered in charge. This is a five foot long staff painted red with a brass spire on the top. The words "ABOVE THE REST" appear in the patch for two reasons. The first is that Station 153 is located higher in elevation then any other station in Castle Rock; the second...well, you can figure out for yourself.

This fire station has a unique history of first serving as a private dwelling. Following it's family use, it was donated to the fire department, an apparatus bay was added, and the floor plan redesigned. It has one drive-thru bay and one full-length directional bay.
Engine 153 is staffed with 1 officer, 1 engineer, and 1 firefighter. The third member of the crew (firefighter) is assigned to this company only when staffing levels permit. Engine 153 is a 2000 HME/Central States with a 750 gallon tank and 1500 gpm pump.
Brush 153 is cross-staffed when necessary by the crew of Engine 153. Except for the cab, it is identical to Brush 151. This vehicle stays in district at all times and is not contracted out. Brush 153 is a 2000 Ford with a skid-mounted pump and tank.
